Carpentry and Joinery Diploma Level 1

You will explore both practical and theoretical aspects of the Carpentry and Joinery trade and you will be taught by industry-experienced tutors in workshops that reflect the workplace. The programme has been designed to help you understand the basic requirements of Carpentry and Joinery, giving you the skills to progress to further study, then Higher Education or employment. Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme well seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector

A GCSE grade 2 or above in English and maths.

Topics on your Study Programme will include , Care, Use and Maintenance of Hand Tools , Knowledge of Woodworking Joints , Reading Construction Drawings , Constructor Health, Safety and Welfare, including Legislation and Personal Protective Equipment , Principles of Building Construction, Information, Communication, Foundations, Floors, Walls, Roof and Environmental Considerations <b>Elements of study</b> Your programme consists of the following elements , Study of your chosen vocational subject - 50% of your programme , Employability skills, such as punctuality, attendance, communication and team work , Work experience or an Industry Placement, giving you a taste of working life , Tutorial and personal development, such as healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills
